About DianneRees:
I'm a freelance writer, though in previous incarnations I've been a molecular biologist and an intellectual property attorney. I have a Ph.D. from Indiana University, where I studied fruit fly development. As a Research Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico, I moved up the evolutionary ladder, investigating immune responses in mice. I became a Patent Examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and later a lawyer, because I was interested in writing as a way to contribute to innovation. I've practiced intellectual property law at biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, writing patent applications on diverse subjects, including biotechnology, bioinformatics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and nanotechnology. I recently founded my own company, Callooh Communications, to prove that high tech copy doesn’t have to be boring. I live in San Diego with a Sheltie and a one-eyed cat and enjoy writing fiction, though I refuse to commit to a genre.
